Remote meeting with Waitomo Sister City Committee

Dec. 6th

The  Sister City Committee  meeting was the last "Salon" of the year in NZ Waitomo District.

At the suggestion of President MacDonald's, let's have a informal remote meeting with the director of the Tatsuno International Association ... and I've prepare from the morning.

In the afternoon, We ware able to talk for about an hour from 1:30. 

It was said that it would be casual without inviting guests.

We ware talking about the remote exchange meeting for junior high school students for next year, and we had proposed a remote meeting with a specific elementary school before that....we needed much time for it and then we  have to say "See you again. "

We wanted to talk a little more, but we ware pretty tired because the sound was cracked and there was too much time lag ... I'm sure Janis MacDonald had the same feeling. 

After all, I thought it was better to prepare the manuscript in advance for what I wanted to convey and talk about.

ワイトモ姉妹都市委員会例会でリモート会議

12月6日

NZワイトモディストリクトの姉妹都市委員会のミーティングは、今年最後の「サロン」でした。

マクドナルド会長の提案で国際交流協会理事とのざっくばらんなリモート会議しよう・・・ということになり、朝から準備。

午後、1時30分から1時間くらい話が出来ました。来賓もお呼びせずに、カジュアルに・・・ということでしたが、来年の中学生のリモート交流会の打ち合わせや、それ以前に、特定の小学校とのリモート会議の提案などしていたら、「じゃー、またねー」・・・ということになっちゃいました。

もうちょっと、話していたかったんですが、音が割れちゃうのと、タイムラグが多すぎるのとで、かなり疲れてしまいまして・・・きっと、ジャニス・マクドナルドさんも、同じ感覚だったのかと思われました。

　やはり、伝えたいこと、話したいことは、事前に原稿を準備しておいたほうが良いと思いました。

The New Orientation Program has been kicked off

 On December 5th, an orientation ceremony was held for junior high school students participating in the Waitomo Remote Conference hosted by the Tatsuno International Association.

The homestay program scheduled for March this year has been canceled due to measures against coronavirus infection, and it has been decided that the 26th homestay program scheduled for March next year will also be changed to a remote exchange meeting.

The English course for remote meetings is this orientation program. When we the T.I.A called on the second year students of Tatsuno Junior High School and Ryo-Ono Junior High School to participate, there were three applications from Tatsuno Junior High School.

Erika Nakayama, Yura Otsuki, and Kaoruko Miyahara will take eight courses to improve their English skills for a remote exchange meeting with an elementary school in the Waitomo District scheduled for March 20th next year. 

12月5日、国際交流協会主催のワイトモリモート会議参加中学生のためのオリエンテーション開講式が開催されました。

今年3月に予定されていたホームステイプログラムはコロナ・ウイルス感染症対策のため中止となり、来年3月に予定されていた第26回ホームステイプログラムもリモート交流会に変更することが決まりました。

その、リモート会議のための英語講座が今回のオリエンテーション・プログラムです。辰野中学、両小野中学の２年生に参加を呼びかけたところ、辰野中学から３人の応募がありました。

中山絵里加・大槻結楽・宮原薫子の三人で、来年３月20日に予定されているワイトモ地区の小学校とのリモート交流会に向け、8回の講座を受講し英語の力を引き上げていく予定です。

Japanese & English Speech Contest

 There is another purpose of this speech contest. Think about why Japanese and English contests are held at the same time. Both Japanese who study English and foreigners who study Japanese have a common aspect of the people who learns foreign languages. In that respect, I want you to feel that you are friends who share the same purpose and sympathy . Sharing this sympathy is one of the important purposes of this contest, and it is also a chance to deepen friendship.

Yura was 1st prize too.

Finaly Kazuto Nishimura 1st grade boy speeched "Youtube".

He got 2nd prize too.

WAITOMO GARDEN CLEANING

  We cleaned up the WAITOMO GARDEN Aug. 9 morning.　It is usually done in June, but it was postponed due to the influence of Corona.
The WAITOMO GARDEN was open in 2005,  the Carvings were given in 2007.

TIA Meeting 2020

We the T.I.A. had a Lunchtime Meeting on 27th June, instead of the General Meeting.

Decided the Action Plan for 2020-2021.
We have decided to cancel the 26th Homestay Program to prevent new corona infections.
In order to respond to junior high school students' passion and interest in English, we decided to have an English conversation guidance by Ms.Mary.

We had a remote meeting with Janis at the meeting.

At the 25th Anniversary Meeting planned for Waitomo, we will participate in a remote meeting with Tatsuno's junior high school students and the families who have participated in the homestay project so far. It will be held on August 8.

2020年6月27日
国際交流協会は総会に代えて、理事等による昼食会議を行いました。
ゲストに25期派遣団の団長になるはずだった高木建吾先生、ALTのJamiya先生Zill先生をお迎えし、姉妹都市委員会のJanisさんとZoomで結んで会議をすることが出来ました。
わたしたちは、新型コロナ感染防止のために、26期のホームステイ・プログラムを中止することを決定しました。
それに代わる計画として、中学生の英語への情熱、関心に応えるために、メアリー先生に依る英会話講習をすることにしました。

ワイトモで計画している25周年記念ミーティングに辰野の中学生、今までホームステイ事業に参加していただいた家族の皆さんとリモート会議で参加することになりました。
8月8日に行われる予定です。

新型コロナ・ウイルス対策をしながら、出来る範囲での活動を行っていくことを確認し合いました。

Sad News

I have to explain sad news.
With more than 1,000 people infected with COVID19, the Japanese government began to instruct elementary and junior high schools to close on March 2.
The schools will be closed from 5th in Tatsuno.
On Thursday night, the TIA Board discussed the implementation of the program. Some directors said, even non-infected individuals are now at risk of becoming infected at Narita Airport and developing the disease.
With school events being canceled, running this program alone could criticize students, some other directors said.
That was the opinion of the Board.
After that, we continued discussions with the students' parents and decided to cancel this program.
It is a very disappointing decision, but we hope you will understand the difficult situation in Japan.

In near future, We would like to consider using other means to enable dialogue and exchange between junior high school students and students at Tekuichi Elementary School.

 悲しいニュースを説明しなければなりません。
1,000人以上がCOVID19に感染したため、日本政府は3月2日に小中学校の閉鎖を指示し始めました。
辰野の学校は5日から閉鎖されます。
木曜日の夜、TIA理事会はプログラムの実施について議論しました。 理事の何人かは、非感染者でも成田空港で感染し、病気を発症するリスクがあると述べました。
学校のイベントがキャンセルされたため、このプログラムを単独で実行すると生徒を批判する可能性がある、と他の理事は述べています。
それらが理事会の意見でした。
その後、私たちは生徒の両親との議論を続け、このプログラムをキャンセルすることにしました。
非常に残念な決定ですが、日本の困難な状況をご理解いただければ幸いです。

近い将来、中学生とテクイチ小学校の生徒との対話と交流を可能にする他の手段を検討したいと思います。

A Roll Play Training

We the Tatsuno International Association  had a roll play training and pizza party for 6 students who'll be in NZ soon.

We split them into 2 tables of each 2or3 people and let them had a conversation with native speakers.
Mary and Clis was as a host family and talking: Introducing About the family, askig about Japan and students' life and end all.

Latoya pretended a teacher and made a conversation: Conversations ware like at a lunch time or asking about Japanese school, class, club activities, homework, examinations... and all.

After 20 minutes, students move to the next table and communicate as same.

And after roll play we had a pizza party.

私たち辰野国際交流協会は、もうすぐNZに渡る6人の学生たちのためにロールプレイトレーニングとピザパーティーをしました。

彼等を各2つのテーブルに分け、ネイティブスピーカーと会話できるようにしました。

メアリーとクリスはホストファミリーとして話しました。家族について紹介し、日本と学生の生活について尋ねたりしました。

ラトーヤはNZの学校の先生役をして会話をしました。会話では昼食時や、日本の学校、クラス、クラブ活動、宿題、試験などについて話し合いました。

20分後、生徒達はそれぞれのテーブルを交換し、同じようにコミュニケーションを取りました。

そして、ロールプレイの後、ピザパーティーをしました。
