About the 20th Annual English Speech Contest 第20回スピーチコンテストについて

10月9日のスピーチコンテストの審査、お疲れ様でした。

On the 9th of October, 2021, we had our 20th Annual English Speech Contest and 16th Annual Japanese Speech Contest (for Foreigners). Many Junior High School students participated this year, and showed us their best efforts. We enjoyed listening to speeches about Korean Culture, trekking across Japan by bicycle, memories of the Firefly Festival, recommended places to visit in Tatsuno Town, personal stories about the contestants' family members, and to stories about many of the contestants' dreams for the future. Contestants impressed the judges with creative props such as the use of sketchbooks to create a slideshow of related images and words, as well as fine shows of confidence and many well-rehearsed speeches. 

In the end, the judges made the hard decision to choose first, second, and third place winners. Thank you for your participation, and we look forward to listening to your speeches in the upcoming contests!

2021年度定期総会、リモート会議の感想、ワイトモガーデンの整備作業 2021 General Fiscal Year Meeting, Students' Responses about the Remote Exchange Program, and the 2021 Waitomo Garden Cleanup Project

2021年6月5日 (June 5th-6th, 2021) 

TIAの2021年度定期総会が開催されました。

On June 6th, TIA held the 2021 General Fiscal Year Meeting.

昨年はCOVID19の影響で、来賓者無しでの開催でしたが、今年は、武居町長にお越しいただき、ご祝辞を頂戴致しました。

Last year, we were unable to host any guests due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, but despite this change in our programming, the Tatsuno Town Mayor came to give us congratulations.

2020年度の事業報告、決算報告に続き2021年度の事業計画、予算案が報告され、出席者の承認を得ることが出来ました。
2020年2021年と2年続けて3月のホームステイプログラムは実施出来ませんでしたが、2022年はCOVID19の影響も静まり、NZへの渡航が可能となることを願っています。ホームステイ・プログラムが実施できない場合は、リモート会議によるワイトモの小学校との交流を予定しています。
総会の後、3月25日27日に行われたリモート会議に向けてのオリエンテーション・プログラムに参加した4人の中学生からの感想発表が行われました。

During the meeting, we shared a report on our 2020 events and as well as the yearly financial overview, as well as the planned events and expected cost analysis of hosting events in 2021. 

Although we were unable to offer the exchange programs as planned in 2020 and 2021, we are hoping to be able to resume our scheduled trip to NZ in 2022 as the pandemic wanes. If we are unable to send students to participate in homestay programs in the upcoming year, we plan to offer a remote video exchange with Waitomo Elementary School.

After the General Meeting, the Junior High School students who participated in the remote video exchange shared about their experiences with the new program.

６日には理事に依るワイトモガーデン整備作業が行われました。
毎年「ほたる祭り」には、来訪者が来られるので、６月上旬に整備をするのですが、今年は、ほたる発生区域が町内在住者限定での公開となったため、ワイトモガーデンまで来られる方が、どれほどか期待はできませんが、例年通り、綺麗に草取り、剪定を致しました。

On the following day (June 6th), the members of the board cleaned up Tatsuno's Waitomo Garden. 

We do this cleaning at the beginning of June since the town normally has many visitors at our yearly Firefly Festival. However, due to the pandemic, the town limited this year's festival to only Tatsuno residents. We can't be sure how many people made it out to the Waitomo Garden this year, but regardless, we made sure to pull weeds and clean up the garden to meet our yearly standards.

About the Board of Directors' Meeting on May 31, June Events・ 5月31日の理事会、6月の行事について

2021年5月31日　辰野国際交流協会の理事会が行われました。

久しぶりに、10人を超える理事が出席してくださいました。
新理事として河西さん、金沢夫妻も参加して頂いたので、改めてメンバーによる自己紹介が行われました。偶然、古いメンバーが南側の席に、新しいメンバーが北側の席に着いたので、新旧の対面式のような構図になりました。
6月5日に行われる総会に向けて、役割分担、式次第、等について打ち合わせ致しました。
新型コロナ感染症対応のため大勢で集まることは出来ませんが、リモート会議に参加した中学生の感想や、交流のために練習したパフォーマンスの披露などして頂く予定です。

翌日6日は朝7時から童謡公園にあるワイトモガーデンの整備作業が予定されています。

On May 31, we had a TIA Board of Directors meeting. 

It's been a while since we've had more than 10 members on the board!

Kawanishi-san and the Kanazawas (couple) officially joined the board this week, so each member of the board gave a self-introduction. 

The new members sat within the opposing tables from the alumni members, creating a layout that looked as if we were on opposing debate teams. 

In this meeting, we discussed these points:

• 6/5 General Meeting Schedule and Related Points
• Distribution of Directors' Roles
• General Programming (Yearly Event Schedule)

Due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, we have been unable to hold events including large numbers of people, but we hope to be able to share the responses from the JHS students who participated in our remote meeting, as well as be able to put on performance showcases as planned. 

On June 6, we will be meeting at the Waitomo Community Garden within Doyo Park for maintenance and cleaning.

ZOOM Meeting Between Waitomo and Tatsuno

 We were able to hold a zoom meeting between NZ Waitomo and Tatsuno twice on the 25th and 27th.

Kaoruko, Yura, Rie, and Erica and the students of TeKuiti Primary talked about self-introduction, the situation around their home, school, and hobbies.

For me as well, I was able to learn various techniques related to zoom conferencing.

25日と27日にNZワイトモと辰野の間でズームミーティングを2回開催することができました。

薫子、結楽、里映、絵里加とテクイチ小学校の生徒たちが、自己紹介、自宅、学校、趣味の状況について話しました。

私にとっても、ズーム会議に関連するさまざまなテクニックを学ぶことができました。

The Orientation Final

 March 20

Our orientation (learning English expressions) has reached its final .

We could communicate in English with four conference participants and three native speakers, Anthony, Derek and Susan, who accepted cooperation for the remote conference.

The staff was able to make useful trials in setting and adjusting communication equipment.

Regardless of OBS, we would like to avoid complicated settings by performing dual transmission so that we can concentrate on conversation with a simple system that is resistant to disturbance.

After the communication, we had a little party with tea and sweets.

                            

Finally, on the 25th, we will have a meeting with TeKuiti Elementary School.

3月20日

私達のオリエンテーション（英語表現学習）は最終回を迎えました。

4人の会議参加者と、リモート会議の相手役を受け入れてくれた3人のネイティブスピーカー　アンソニー　ディレク　スーザン　と英語でコミュニケーションを取ることが出来ました。

スタッフは、通信機器の設定や調整で有益な試行を行うことが出来ました。

私達は、OBSに拘らず、2元送信を行うことで、複雑な設定を回避し、外乱に強い、シンプルなシステムで、会話に集中できるようにしたいと思います。

交信終了後、紅茶とお菓子で、茶話会を行いました。

いよいよ、25日にはテクイチ小学校との会議に臨みます。

The 5th Orientation

 

On the 20th, the 5th lecture for the Zoom Conference  was held. After the chorus of "Pokarekare Ana" and "Sei Ippai no Hana" by the four participants, an English conversation lesson by Ms. Mary was held.

Seven people from the directors and members of the Tatsuno International Exchange Association also participated and supported them.

Participating students shared the explanation of there house.

On the 27th, they will learn about the english explanation of each house entrance and living room, and explain the state of the school.

20日、ズーム会議・オリエンテーションの5回目の講座がおこなわれました。参加者4人による「ポカレカレアナ」と「せいいっぱいの花」合唱の後、メアリー先生の英会話レッスンが行われました。

辰野国際交流協会の理事・会員から7人の参加もあり、サポートしていただきました。

参加生徒同士で家の説明をしあいました。

27日には玄関や居間など各家庭の様子の紹介や、学校の様子についての説明について学びます。

The 4th Orientation

 January 23, 2021 The 4th orientation (study session) was held for the remote conference.

After practicing the two chorus songs to be shown at the remote conference, Mr. Akahane gave a lecture on the history, culture, industry, etc. of Tatsuno Town.

The four junior high school students were confused by the "Oyaji -Gag" peculiar to the adviser, but soon they got used to it and gained "understanding" enough to laugh.

After that, Kakiuchi talked about the history, nature, and culture of New Zealand.

From today's story, the four of us thought about how to tell Tatsuno Town to our friends in Waitomo.

2021年1月23日　リモート会議に向けた、4回目のオリエンテーション　(学習会)　が行われました。

リモート会議で披露する予定のコーラス2曲の練習をした後、赤羽顧問から、辰野町の歴史、文化、産業等について講義をしていただきました。

顧問特有の”オヤジ・ギャグ”に4人の中学生は戸惑っていましたが、やがて、慣れ、爆笑することが出来るほど”理解力”が付きました。(笑)

その後、垣内よりニュージー・ランドの歴史、自然、文化、について話を致しました。

今日の話から、ワイトモの友人達に辰野町をどう伝えるか、4人で考えました。
